Mohamed Abubakr

Mohamed Abubakr is a Sudanese human rights advocate, civil society leader, and peacebuilding practitioner with more than 15 years of experience advancing humanitarian initiatives, youth empowerment, and conflict resolution efforts across the Middle East and Africa. He serves as President of the African Middle Eastern Leadership Project (AMEL), an organization focused on strengthening leadership, dialogue, and cooperation across regions.

He has founded and led organizations and initiatives focused on human rights, democratic engagement, peacebuilding, and youth leadership, with work spanning Sudan, South Sudan, Egypt, Israel, the Palestinian Territories, and the broader region. He has documented and advocated against human rights abuses and contributed regional expertise to policy discussions with U.S. government officials and institutions, including the U.S. Department of State and Congress. His work focuses on strengthening civic participation, promoting dialogue, and addressing regional security challenges. Mohamed is based in Washington, D.C.
