Doris Awwad is a Middle East advocacy, gender, and global politics specialist with more than 17 years of experience in political advocacy and analysis, strategic planning, community dialogue, and peacebuilding across the MENA region. Her work focuses on human security, inclusive governance, transitional justice, and the political participation of women and youth in conflict and post-conflict settings.
She has extensive expertise on Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon, with a focus on the gendered impacts of conflict, displacement, sanctions, political exclusion, and shrinking civic space. She has led regional and international advocacy efforts, developed gender-responsive strategies, authored policy papers and analytical reports, and facilitated mediation, peace, and justice dialogues. Her work connects local perspectives with regional and international decision-making processes, advancing more inclusive and accountable approaches to peace and governance. Doris is based in Brussels, Belgium.
