Charlotta Sparre

Ambassador Charlotta Sparre is Deputy Director of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and a senior diplomat with more than 30 years of experience in international diplomacy, dialogue, and mediation. Her work focuses on regional security, peacebuilding, governance, and cooperation across the Middle East and North Africa.

Prior to joining SIPRI, she served as Director of the Swedish Dialogue Institute for the Middle East and North Africa. She previously served as Sweden’s Ambassador to Egypt and Ambassador to Jordan and has held numerous positions in the Swedish Foreign Service since 1986, primarily focused on the MENA region, the Middle East peace process, and Euro-Mediterranean cooperation. She has participated in several Track 2 dialogue and mediation processes focused on advancing regional security, peace, and development. Charlotta is based in Stockholm, Sweden.
